Taxonomy
Mesodouvillina was named by Williams (1950). Its type is Mesodouvillina subinterstrialis. It is the type genus of Mesodouvillininae.

It was reranked as Douvillina (Mesodouvillina) by Waite (1956).

It was assigned to Douvillina by Waite (1956); to Mesodouvillininae by Williams et al. (2000); to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Amphistrophiidae by Musteikis and Cocks (2004).
