Taxonomy
Gypospirifer kobiyamai was named by Tazawa and Araki (2013). Its type specimen is KCG001 and is a mold. Its type locality is AR1, Shigejisawa, Kamiyasse, Kesennuma City, which is in a Wordian marine sandstone in the Kanokura Formation of Japan.
