Taxonomy
Arcellites pentagonalis was named by Villar de Seoane and Archangelsky (2008) [Dimensions. Spore body diameter, 240 (253) 260 mm; width of lumina, 85 (92) 100 mm; appendages: length, 260 (285) 294 mm; thickness, 35 (40) 49 mm.]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Bajo de La ComisiĆ³n, which is in an Albian delta plain sandstone/shale in the Kachaike Formation of Argentina.
