Parachonetella was named by Liao (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 963]. It is not extant. Its type is Parachonetella zhongyingensis.
It was assigned to Chonetellini by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
