Nothofagidites visserensis was named by Romero (1973) [Others samples examinated: Hansen: Prep. 963, coord. 8.0/23.9; Prep. 964, coord. 20.7/16.0. Visser: Prep. 691, coord. 23.4/0.4; Prep. 960, coord. 29.8/17.2.
]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype. Prep. 960, coord. 25.0/21.6., a microspore. Its type locality is Puerto Visser - Nivel 142, which is in a Thanetian terrestrial horizon in Argentina.
