Paramarginifera was named by Frederiks (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Leon Sepkoski's reference number: 963]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Paramarginiferini.
It was assigned to Paramarginiferini by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
