Taxonomy
Celtites michaelis was named by von Mojsisovics (1882). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schreyeralm (Geol Reichsanstalt coll), which is in an Illyrian carbonate limestone in the Schreyeralm Formation of Austria.

It was recombined as Danubites michaelis by Gu et al. (1980).
