Goniatites sphaericus

Taxonomy
Ammonites sphaericus was named by Sowerby (1814). Its type specimen is BMNH 43871 and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Goniatites.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Martin (1809); it was recombined as Goniatites sphaericus by Smith (1903), Muir-Wood and Stubblefield (1951) and Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971).
