Taxonomy
Rhamnaria was named by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm-u P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Rhamnaria kingorum. It is the type genus of Rhamnariinae.

It was assigned to Rhamnariinae by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960) and Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
