Taxonomy
Acanthophyllum (Grypophyllum) jenkinsi was named by Strusz (1966). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Garra Formation Corals 2, which is in a Lochkovian/Pragian marine grainstone/shale in the Garra Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Grypophyllum jenkinsi by May and Rodríguez (2012).
