Brachyoxylon was named by Hollick and Jeffrey (1909) [Type species: Brachyoxylon notabile Hollick y Jeffrey 1909]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Cheirolepidiaceae by Hollick and Jeffrey (1909); to Brachyphyllaceae by Knowlton (1919); and to Araucariaceae by Andrews (1970).
