Schedophyla was named by Neuman (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-l O Llvi Sepkoski's reference number: 878]. Its type is Schedophyla potteri.

It was assigned to Ahtiellinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
