Taxonomy
Paolia gurleyi was named by Scudder (1885). It is an impression. Its type locality is Near French Lick, Orange County, which is in a Yeadonian estuary/bay siltstone in the Mansfield Formation of Indiana.
It was recombined as Paoliola gurleyi by Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Kukalová (1958), Durden (1984), Prokop et al. (2012) and Prokop et al. (2014).
