Pentagonodiscus initiopentagonatus was named by Szabo (1979). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kericser, Lókut [Hierlatz Limestone], which is in a Pliensbachian marine limestone in the Hierlatz Limestone Formation of Hungary.
