Taxonomy
Spinarella was named by Cooper and Grant (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1246]. Its type is Spinarella perfecta.

It was assigned to Paucispiniferini by Williams et al. (2000); to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rugatiini by Lazarev (2011).
