Striatifera was named by Chao (1927) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u P Sakm Sepkoski's reference number: 1,7]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Striatiferini, Striatiferinae.

It was reranked as Productus (Striatifera) by Reed (1944).

It was assigned to Productus by Reed (1944); to Striatiferini by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
