Taxonomy
Amphistrophia was named by Hall and Clarke (1892). Its type is Strophomena striata. It is the type genus of Amphistrophiinae.
It was assigned to Stropheodontidae by Bassett and Cocks (1974); to Amphistrophiinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
