Syndielasma was named by Cooper (1956) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1,878]. It is the type genus of Syndielasmatidae.
It was assigned to Isophragmatinae by Neuman and Bruton (1974); to Syndielasmatidae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Strophomenida by Sepkoski (2002).
