Taxonomy
Maitaia vedernikovi was named by Biakov (2013). Its type specimen is SVKNII 204/02-06.99, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Astronomicheskaya River, outcrop 103, Levyy Kedon River, which is in a Roadian marine horizon in the Omolon Formation of the Russian Federation.
