Taxonomy
Maitaia tobonnoensis was named by Biakov (2013). Its type specimen is PIN 4150/124, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Tobonno River, upper Allakh-Yun River, which is in a Wordian marine siliciclastic in the Menkechen Formation of the Russian Federation.
