Taxonomy
Poliochera gibbsi was named by Selden (1992). Its type specimen is FMNH PE29176, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Pit 11, Braidwood, Mazon Creek (FMNH coll), which is in a Westphalian D deltaic mudstone in the Carbondale Formation of Illinois.
