Taxonomy
Tipula limfjordensis was named by Freiwald (1990). Its type specimen is BSM 109, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Island of Mors (Moler Museum coll), which is in a Ypresian offshore ramp diatomite/volcaniclastic in the Fur Formation of Denmark.
