Taxonomy
Tipula pachyvena was named by Freiwald (1990). Its type specimen is KM 11, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Østklint, Fur (Copenhagen Museum coll), which is in a Ypresian offshore ramp claystone in the Ølst Formation of Denmark.
