Visokorynetes was named by Winkler (1990). Its type is Visokorynetes priscus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Prosymnus by Kolibáč (1997) and Kolibáč and Huang (2016).

It was assigned to Korynetinae by Winkler (1990) and Kolibáč et al. (2021).
