Taxonomy

Nanophyini was named by Gistel (1848). It is extant. Its type is Nanophyes.

It was assigned to Nanophyinae by Bouchard et al. (2011), Legalov (2015), Legalov (2015), Legalov (2019) and Legalov (2021).

Synonyms

Nanophyes japetus was named by von Heyden and von Heyden (1866). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Krantz Bonn coll), which is in a MP 30 lacustrine - large shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Legalov (2015).
