Bibio brevis

Taxonomy
Bibio brevis was named by Heer (1849). Its type specimen is ETHZ Pl. I 856, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (Lavater'schen collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Mesomyia brevis by Pongrácz (1928); it was recombined as Lithosomyia brevis by Carpenter (1986).
