Taxonomy
Parastrophinella was named by Schuchert and Cooper (1931). Its type is Pentamerus reversus.

It was assigned to Parastrophinidae by Owen and Harper (1982) and Williams et al. (2002); and to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002).
