Taxonomy
Cistelites punctulatus was named by Heer (1869). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Atanekerdluk (Whymper collection), which is in a Selandian lacustrine mudstone in the Atanikerluk Formation of Greenland.
