Taxonomy
Pleurodium was named by Wang (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-m Sepkoski's reference number: 651]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Pleurodiinae.

It was assigned to Pleurodiinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002).
