E. L. Nicholls and D. Brinkman 1993Differs from other thalattosaurs as follows: ex- ternal naris large, extending posterodorsally beyond the anterior edge of the orbit; posterior skull table curved ventrally, with quadrate-squamosal articulation positioned ventral to dorsal rim of orbit. Differs from other thalattosaurs in following com- bination of characters: anterior extension of maxilla rectangular with 6-7 conical teeth; anterior tip of maxillary tooth row curves dorsally so that first maxillary tooth procumbent anteriorly; 15 teeth on dentary; anterior procumbent, dentary teeth high, con- ical; posterior dentary teeth low crowned, bulbous; coronoid process low, indistinct.
