Taxonomy
Culicites arvernensis was named by Piton (1936). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lac Chambon (Piton coll), which is in a Gelasian crater lake diatomite/volcaniclastic in France.
It was recombined as Neoculicites arvernensis by Evenhuis (1994).
