Taxonomy
Culicites depereti was named by Meunier (1915). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Aix-en-Provence (Inst. Geol. Lyon), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - large limestone in the Niveau du gypse d'Aix Formation of France. It is the type species of Culicites, Neoculicites.
It was recombined as Neoculicites depereti by Evenhuis (1994).
