Desmatolagus simplex
Taxonomy
Agispelagus simplex was named by Argyropulo (1940). Its type specimen is PIN, no. 210/609, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Akespe, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial shale/claystone in the Aral Formation of Kazakhstan.
It was synonymized subjectively with Desmatolagus robustus by Sych (1975); it was recombined as Desmatolagus simplex by Lopatin (1998) and Bendukidze et al. (2009).
