Taxonomy
Rhipidium was named by Schuchert and Cooper (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l S Ludl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25,27,538]. It is not extant. Its type is Pentamerus knappi.

It was assigned to Pentamerinae by Bassett and Cocks (1974); to Pentameridae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002).
