Tcharella was named by Andreeva (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo-u Cm mMid Sepkoski's reference number: 810,1066].

It was assigned to Orthida by Bengtson (1992); to Syntrophopsinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002).
