Taxonomy
Terebratula monstruosa was named by Scacchi (1838). It is extant.

It was recombined as Pantellaria monstruosa by Scachi (1833) and Popiel-Barczyk and Barczyk (1990); it was recombined as Megerlia monstruosa by Taddei Ruggiero and Taddei (2006); it was recombined as Megerlia truncata monstruosa by Koskeridou (2007).
