Vosmiverstum was named by Breyvel and Breyvel (1970). Its type is Conchidium triquetrum.

It was assigned to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Conchidiinae by Jin and Chatterton (1997) and Williams et al. (2002).
