E. J. Romero and L. J. Hickey 1976Leaf symmetrical, narrow elliptic, approximately 11 cm long and 3 cm wide; apex apparently acute; base acute, slightly symmetrical; margixn mostly en- tire, but with seven teeth ocecLrring on the lower half of one margin (Figs. 2, 3 and 5); margin marked by a strong, continuous trough, equalling the secondary veins in width and depth of impression, suggesting the former presence of a fimbrial vein (Fig. 7); teeth doubly-coneave (C-3), ir- regularly spaced, diminishing in size api- cally and transitional to the entire margin; tooth vasculature consisting of a secondary branch emerging from the brochidodromous secondary arch, traversing the tooth cen- trally, and terminating in a small apical spine up to 2 mm long (Fig 6); secondary vein often forking again 2-3 mm before entering the teeth, with one branch joining the apparent fimbrial vein in the acute or rounded sinus; petiole stout, 4 mm long; venation pinnate brochidodromous; pri- mary vein stout, straight; secondary veins approximately 13 to 15 pairs, emerging at about 60?, uniformly curved, joining the anterior secondaries at 90? with one or two tertiary vein arches between the brochido- dromous seconday veins and the margin; teeth, where present, two per medial secon- dary vein; intersecondary veins present; tertiary veins thick, with a random retic- ulate pattern; fourth and fifth order veins prominent, random reticulate; areoles well developed, polygonal, of medium size and deeply impressed, sometimes with a simple or once divided veinlet (Figs. 5 and 6).
