Taxonomy
Amphipella was named by Cooper and Grant (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-m P Leon-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Amphipella arcaria. It is the type genus of Amphipellidae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Amphipellidae by Williams et al. (2002).
