Taxonomy
Pinna alborzica was named by Repin (2013). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 837/99, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ganu, central Alborz Mountains, which is in a Toarcian marine horizon in the Ravaza Formation of Iran.
