Taxonomy
Capillirhynchia was named by Buckman (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: J Aale J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1091]. Its type is Rhynchonella wrighti.

It was assigned to Striirhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cyclothyridinae by Atrops and Alméras (2005).
