Taxonomy
Cardinirhynchia was named by Buckman (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo-u J Oxfo Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538]. Its type is Terebratula acuticosta. It is the type genus of Cardinirhynchiinae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cardinirhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
