Caucasella was named by Moisseiev (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 1091].

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); to Septocrurellinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellininae by Atrops and Alméras (2005).
