Taxonomy
Nomochirus sampelayoi was named by Gil Collado (1926). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is La Rinconada, Ribesalbes (IGE collection), which is in a Miocene lacustrine - large shale in Spain. It is the type species of Nomochirus.
