Lanceomyonia was named by Havlíček (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ludl S Prid Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Terebratula tarda.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hebetoechiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
