Taxonomy
Cretirhynchia was named by Pettitt (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi T Dani-l Sepkoski's reference number: 8,765,1091]. It is the type genus of Cretirhynchiinae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cretirhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
