Taxonomy
Borestus lunatus was named by Pinilla et al. (2007). Its type specimen is MLP 30396, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Quebrada Honda, which is in an Artinskian marine sandstone in the Mojon de Hierro Formation of Argentina.
