Echyrosia was named by Cooper (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 877]. It is not extant. Its type is Echyrosia costata.

It was assigned to Tetrarhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
