Soomylacris lotharingiae was named by Waterlot (1934). It is an impression. Its type locality is Sarre-et-Moselle colliery, siège of Merlebach, pit 5, vein 18, which is in a Westphalian C terrestrial shale in the Sulzbach Formation of France.
