Taxonomy
Argyrotheca macneili was named by Cooper (1988). Its type specimen is USNM 550458a, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Roadcut (SW Section) in Henry County, which is in a Selandian marine horizon in the Fort Gaines Formation of Alabama.
